Product Information

Can be applied on any flat surface
  Very stable color and pattern
Easy to finish with lacquer or oil
  Sustainable alternative for wood

This carbonized colored bamboo veneer with dimensions 2500 x 1250 x 0.6 mm is made from plain pressed bamboo strips. With plain pressed bamboo veneers the visible "strips" are wider with visible nodes. This gives the veneer a unique look.

The standard thickness of our veneer is 0.6 mm, of which 0.5 mm bamboo and 0.1 mm "backing material". In the factory, a thin layer of veneer is cut from a solid bamboo block and then applied to a cellulose membrane with a D3 water-resistant PVAC glue. The strong cellulose membrane on the back of the veneer helps prevent tearing and makes it easy to press on any surface.

The great advantage of bamboo veneer is that it is very regular in color and that there are no pattern differences as with wood veneer. Bamboo is a type of grass and has no growth rings or dark heartwood. These properties ensure that you can easily cover large surfaces or complete spaces in the same uniform style.

Bamboo veneer is mainly used for interior applications, and can be applied to almost any flat surface, even on metal or plastic pipes (with contact glue).

In the furniture sector veneer is often applied on a cheaper surface (so-called blind wood) so that the furniture gets an expensive / luxurious look. A well-veneered piece of furniture can hardly be distinguished from a piece of furniture that consists entirely of solid wood.

Bamboo veneer is also very suitable for covering walls, interior doors and large surfaces. Veneer has no disadvantageous working properties such as solid wood and is also cheaper.

By combining different bamboo veneers in geometric or figurative patterns, one can also create unique effects.

Processing bamboo veneer

  • Make sure that the surface is always flat, clean, dry and free of grease.
  • Veneer is normally glued on both sides of the sheet material to prevent warping of the chipboard, plywood or MDF. It is advisable to use the same veneers at both sides because this gives an optimal "balance" (stability) in the panel.
  • The amount of glue and pressing method depends on the absorption of the carrier. Veneer is usually hot pressed with UF or PVAC glue.
  • For bonding the veneer, we recommend to first perform a test bonding, in order to determine the precise alignment of press time, temperature and pressure.
  • When pressing under high pressure and high temperature, a large cooling period must be observed before the cooled (max 60°C) panels can be stacked.
  • If the veneer is sanded, the thickness of the bamboo layer must remain at least 0.2 mm.

  • The hardness of bamboo veneer depends on the used substrate.
  • Our bamboo veneer is delivered unfinished but is easy to paint with oil or lacquer for the desired appearance and finish.
  • The color of bamboo changes under the influence of UV radiation. The natural color will become slightly darker and the caramel color slightly lighter. We recommend applying Bamboo Topcoat, a specially developed bamboo lacquer that offers optimum protection against wear, stains and discolouration.
  • If you want to use oil, apply it thinly. Bamboo has a dense surface and absorbs the oil less quickly. Over-application of oil can lead to differences in gloss and long drying times.
