Our Bamboo Beam Caramel is built up from bamboo strips bonded lengthwise with waterproof adhesive. The layered build gives it high stability and a distinctive look. Two sides show a "horizontally pressed" face and two sides a "vertically pressed" face. These beams are made from Moso bamboo.

WORKING WITH BAMBOO BEAMS
Unlike timber, Bamboo Beams Caramel are remarkably consistent in dimensions and build-up, and they offer high stability. Bamboo also has no knots and no resin bleed, which makes the beams very easy to work with.
Our bamboo beams are easy to machine as well. Sawing, routing, sanding and gluing are no problem at all. Always use sharp tools, as this is a hard material.

Care
The colour of untreated pressed bamboo changes under the influence of UV light. The Caramel colour may therefore fade slightly over time. We recommend treating the Bamboo Beam Caramel with our Bamboo Topcoat. This is a specially developed bamboo lacquer that offers optimal protection against wear, stains and discolouration. Bamboo Topcoat is water-based. It does not change the colour, but does give a beautiful silk gloss. If you prefer to use furniture oil, apply it in a thin layer. Bamboo has a dense surface and absorbs oil more slowly. Applying oil too thickly can lead to uneven gloss and long drying times. Our Bamboo Beam Caramel is not intended for prolonged exposure to water and moisture. If you do want to use our Bamboo Beam Caramel in a damp environment such as a bathroom, we recommend treating it with our Bamboo Topcoat. Never let the Bamboo Beam Caramel come into direct contact with water. The lifespan of our Bamboo Beam Caramel is based on use in a non-humid environment.
