The bamboo poles are available in various diameters and are supplied untreated. The halved poles are perfectly suited to cladding walls and ceilings, as they are nice and flat at the back, weigh less and take up less space than full bamboo poles.

Half-round bamboo poles are also frequently used when installing Giant bamboo garden screens, to "hide" the wooden garden posts needed to keep the fence rigid. By facing those posts with half-round poles, the bamboo fence looks like one continuous whole.

WORKING WITH BAMBOO

Half-round bamboo sticks can be joined in many different ways. Most techniques use rope and/or threaded rods. More advanced methods, such as the fish-mouth joint or the mortise-and-tenon joint, are equally possible. You can of course also screw bamboo in place. When you do, we always recommend pre- drilling to keep the risk of splitting to a minimum. Bamboo is best cut with a Japanese saw.
