Care
Once you have installed the Bamboo Stick Java Black, you can apply our Bamboo Protector. This is a specially developed colourless/transparent stain that protects the bamboo against grime and discolouration. Outdoors, bamboo will grey and change colour, just like any natural material. We therefore advise treating bamboo once a year, preferably in spring, with our Bamboo Renovator Dark, a specially developed stain that protects the bamboo and restores its colour. Bamboo Renovator Dark is easy to apply to cleaned bamboo with a brush. Use thin coats and spread the Bamboo Renovator Dark out well. To clean bamboo you can use our Bamboo Cleaner. For stubborn dirt or grime, bamboo can also be washed down with a pressure washer. Keep a suitable distance to avoid damage. An alternative maintenance product is also available: Bamboo Booster oil. Bamboo Booster is a natural oil that is easy to apply with Maintenance Wipes. This Bamboo Booster oil gives a beautiful glossy result. The oil protects and nourishes the bamboo, but does not slow down the discolouration process. Bamboo Booster can be applied several times a year for the best result. The oil simply cannot be combined with our Bamboo Protector and Bamboo Renovator Dark stain.
Instructions for use
Bamboo sticks can be joined in many different ways. Most techniques use rope and/or threaded rod. More advanced methods, such as the fish-mouth joint or the mortise-and-tenon joint, are also an option. Of course, you can also simply screw the bamboo stick in place. In that case we recommend always pre-drilling to keep the risk of splitting to a minimum. Bamboo is best cut with a Japanese saw. This special bamboo saw has small, sharp teeth that let you cut easily, quickly and precisely.
